MRC’s concern for the health and well-being of those using and operating the Bye Bye Mattress recycling network continues to be our top priority during the COVID-19 pandemic. Waste and recycling are essential services and staying healthy is at the top of everyone’s mind.  How you dispose of your mattress may look a little different right now, but you still have options! Here’s what you can expect:

Collection Sites & Events

Sites may have altered their hours of operation and/or chosen to limit staff contact with the public. Collection events may also change without notice. Call ahead to verify operating hours and that they are accepting mattresses.

Recyclers

Many of the recycling facilities continue to operate according to guidelines from local, state and federal officials and are following industry best practices, but their workforce is being strained. They may have altered their hours of operation or chosen to limit contact with the public. Call ahead to verify they are open, able to accept your mattress and assist you if needed.

Municipal Bulky Waste Curbside Collection

Your solid waste hauler may have suspended or delayed bulky item collection or special waste services due to staffing shortages. Call before you set something out at the curb.

Retailer Take Back

To maintain social distancing, retailers may have altered how they deliver your new mattress and take back your old one. Some may have decided to even suspend this service. Discuss take back during your purchase.
